No. Launchpad agents are 1099 independent contractors. You set your own schedule, work from wherever you want, and run your business your way. We provide the infrastructure, training, and carrier access — you provide the hustle. There are no base salaries, no mandatory office hours, and no one looking over your shoulder.
There is no fee to join Launchpad. Carrier contracting is free. The main costs you’ll encounter are your state insurance license (varies by state, typically $50–$200), AHIP certification (around $175/year, though some carriers reimburse it), and Errors & Omissions insurance (roughly $300–$600/year). We help you find affordable options for all of these.
Yes. You need an active state health insurance license in every state where you plan to sell. If you don’t have one yet, we’ll walk you through the process. Most states require completing a pre-licensing course and passing a state exam. The whole process typically takes 2–4 weeks.
If you already have your license, contracting typically takes 1–3 weeks depending on the carrier. Some are faster than others. You’ll also need to complete AHIP and carrier-specific training before you can enroll anyone. We keep you moving through the process so nothing stalls.
Yes. Your clients are yours. Carriers pay you directly, and your book of business stays with you. If you ever decide to leave Launchpad, your renewals and client relationships go with you. We don’t hold your book hostage — that’s not how we operate.
We work with major national and regional carriers including Aetna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Wellcare, Mutual of Omaha, and others depending on your state. Our carrier portfolio covers Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D plans. Check our Carriers page for the full list.
Launchpad doesn’t impose production minimums on agents. However, some carriers may have their own minimum production requirements to maintain active contracting status. We’ll make sure you know each carrier’s expectations upfront so there are no surprises.
Launchpad earns an override commission from carriers when agents we support write business. This is standard in the insurance industry — it’s how every FMO, IMO, and agency operates. It does not reduce your commission. You get paid your full contracted rate directly by the carrier. Our incentive is simple: the better you do, the better we do.
We provide carrier contracting, compliance training, lead generation tools, quoting and enrollment technology, marketing support, and a community of agents who actually help each other. You also get access to our AI-powered tools that help with plan comparisons and client management. Think of us as the back office you’d need to build yourself — already built.
Absolutely. Many of our agents start part-time while keeping their current job. Since you’re an independent contractor, you control your schedule. That said, Medicare has specific enrollment periods (AEP runs October 15 – December 7), and being available during those windows is when the majority of business happens. Part-time works — but the agents who commit more time during AEP see significantly better results.
